"I just want to clarify about the MLais and MStar brand names, the are the same company. MStar started as a company supplying OEM phone for other manufacturers (read clone maker). They then went a little more up market and became MStar as a brand name to market their own devices in the Chinese market. They introduced the MLais brand recently to use as a more up market brand name to market their phones into the European, US and other international markets. The main difference between their MStar items and MLais is that the MStar is down specced and the labeling is total crap as is the norm in the chinese Market. An example would be the M7 and the S700 the phones are superficially identical but MStar S700 is down specced and even though batteries in the two phones are identical and interchangeable, the MLais is labeled 2600mAh (probably close to correct) and the MStar battery is labeled 3000mAh (complete Bull****). This labeling is quite acceptable in china but hated in western markets. This is why you can by the standard stock M52 battery on Aliexpress labeled 4600mAh when it is in-fact the same stock battery you get with the phone. (probably really 2800mAh)"
"A little bird told me that they are in fact not done with the software development for this phone. But their software team is small and they are currently working on the MX. The unofficial official word is that sales of the M52 have been very strong and they would like to update it to 5.1 in the future to keep the sales volume up. But the M7 will get it first and then they will come back to the M52 if the workload allows."
